Limb to limb you see
All in a day´s dream
I´m stuck
Like the other monkeys here
I am a humble monkey
Sitting up in here again
But then came the day
I climbed out of these safe limbs
Ventured away
Walking tall, head high up and singing
I went to the city
Car horns, corners and the gritty
Now I am the proudest monkey
You´ve ever seen

Staring at myself I turn to question me

simple life that I once lived in well

Oscillo su quest´albero
Oh saltello così bene
Di fronda in fronda,
Di ramo in ramo…
Tutto in un sogno da sveglio…
Sono bloccata qui,
Come le altre scimmie.
Sono una semplice scimmia
Di nuovo seduta qui.
Ma poi è arrivato il giorno
In cui sono scesa da questi rami sicuri
Per avventurarmi lontano
Camminando eretta, a capo in su, cantando
Sono andata in città.
Clacson di automobili, angoli e sporcizia
Ora sono la scimmia più fiera
Che abbiate mai visto.
La scimmia imita ciò che vede.
Poi arriva il giorno
In cui mi guardo e mi chiedo
Se desidero la vita semplice
Che una volta mi bastava.
Oh, le cose allora erano tranquille
In un certo senso erano i giorni migliori
